Oxfordpsych CASC Comprehensive Course provides two or three days of CASC training focusing on the implementation of the core skills needed to complete any psychiatric interview or CASC station. The course is based on adult learning theory, using constructivism to help candidates build from their current level of expertise, practising techniques to aid CASC performance and increase the chances of success. It enables you to develop your consultation skills and improve your performance in the RCPsych CASC exams.

Oxfordpsych CASC courses are led by experienced consultant psychiatrists, clinical educators and CASC experienced actors who offer high quality, interactive training in small groups. The courses enable you to identify your learning needs and improve your skills to help you pass the CASC exams. 

Oxfordpsych CASC courses are designed to help you learn the clinical and communication skills assessed in CASC, beginning with core clinical skills and working towards advanced skills in a systematic manner. Working in small groups, you will learn the skills and apply them in history taking, assessment and management stations, with both the shorter (90 second) and longer (4 minute) reading time, in alignment with the new online CASC exam format. The online course builds towards completing circuits of stations, across the CASC Blueprint, to time, with written feedback. 

Our newly designed Oxfordpsych CASC Online Module now includes  more than 250 videos with specific training to prepare you to conceptualise written information in 4 minutes, then to use that information in management, assessment and history taking stations.

By the end of the Oxfordpsych CASC  course, you will be able to:

1. Develop core skills required to perform any CASC scenario.

2. Implement the core skills in a variety of CASC style stations, including assessment, history taking and explanation stations, with short and longer reading times.

3. Identify the advanced skills required to aid control of the interview and manage difficult communication scenarios in a confident and professional manner.

4. Differentiate the key essential elements required in any CASC station scenario, across the range of specialities, and approach the required elements in a structured way.

5. Evaluate their own performance in the demonstration of the skills and competencies assessed in CASC, incorporating insight from the facilitators and personal reflection.

6. Understand the format of stations in CASC and be able to conceptualise what is needed in both the 4 minute and 90 second reading, and how that impacts on addressing the station content.
